Whether you’re looking to stay cozy indoors or venture out into the winter wonderland, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Here are some fun and creative ideas to make the most of your snow day:
1. Outdoor Adventures:
- Build a Snowman: Gather your family or friends and roll up some giant snowballs to create a classic snowman. Don’t forget to accessorize with a carrot nose, scarf, and hat!
- Go Sledding: Find a nearby hill and grab a sled, toboggan, or even a large piece of cardboard. Sledding is a thrilling way to enjoy the snow and get some exercise.
- Snowball Fight: Challenge your friends or family to a friendly snowball fight. Create forts for protection and see who can make the best snowball.
- Snow Angels: Lay down in the snow and wave your arms and legs to create beautiful snow angels. It’s a simple yet delightful way to enjoy the snow.
2. Indoor Fun:
- Hot Cocoa and Movie Marathon: Warm up with a cup of hot cocoa topped with marshmallows and settle in for a cozy movie marathon. Choose your favorite winter-themed movies for an extra festive touch.
- Baking: Spend some time in the kitchen baking cookies, brownies, or other treats. The delicious smells will fill your home with warmth and cheer.
- Crafts and DIY Projects: Get creative with some winter-themed crafts. Make paper snowflakes, decorate pinecones, or create your own holiday decorations.
- Board Games and Puzzles: Gather around the table for some classic board games or work on a challenging puzzle together. It’s a great way to bond and pass the time.
3. Educational Activities:
- Winter Science Experiments: Conduct fun and educational science experiments that relate to winter. For example, you can create your own snowstorm in a jar or explore how salt affects ice.
- Reading: Curl up with a good book and get lost in a wintery tale. Reading is a wonderful way to relax and escape into another world.
- Writing: Write a story or poem inspired by the snowy landscape outside your window. Let your imagination run wild and see where it takes you.
Snow days are a special treat that offer a break from the usual routine. By embracing the cold and finding joy in both outdoor and indoor activities, you can create lasting memories and make the most of your winter wonderland. So bundle up, get creative, and have fun!
I know I wrote about this in a different blogmas post a few years ago, but if you haven’t read it I’m going to talk about it again anyways so you don’t miss out on what I said lol. I heard this question on the radio a few years ago and it was would you rather give gifts or get them. They had a bunch of people call in with their answers. Loved hearing what people had to say so that’s what encouraged that blog post a few years ago.
For me, it’s very simple. I would rather give gifts. I love seeing the look on their face Christmas Day when they’re opening up their presents and it’s exactly what they wanted. That makes my heart feel full. All year long I pay attention to what the people around me have mentioned they want or things they liked when we would go to the store. Then I save up for Christmas and get them what they want. If I don’t manage to get them what they want for Christmas I save up and get it for them on their birthday.
The look on their face is enough for me and I honestly couldn’t ask for anything else on Christmas. What about you guys? Do you like giving gifts or receiving?
Hey everyone! For todays blog post since it’s getting close to Christmas time. I’m going to leave you with a link to my favorite Christmas on Spotify so you can have a listen as you wrap some gifts. Leave some suggestions of songs I should add in the comments below. Enjoy!
Hey everyone! For todays blog post I decided to do a Winter Tag
1. What's the most memorable Christmas present you've ever received?
The most memorable Christmas present I’ve ever received would have to be my play kitchen and the Cinderella VHS I got from Santa when I was a child. I still think about those moments til this very day
2. Do you have any unique holiday traditions that your family follows?
I’m not sure if it’s tradition because all Latino families do this. But on Christmas Eve (December 24) we make food, eat, party and we all wait until it’s 12AM then we say Merry Christmas and we all shake hands and hug. Then when that’s over we open all the gifts. The secret Santa gifts and the gifts we got for each other.
3. If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I like when it snows here in the US but I’m going to have to say spend Christmas in Mexico. I’ve spent Christmas in Mexico before and it’s just a different experience over there. And it’s hot so that’s a nice change of pace
4. What's your favorite holiday recipe to make or eat?
I love LOVE LOVE tamales. If you know you know. They’re my favorite food to eat during the holidays. Well, you can eat them at any time during the year but during Christmas season they hit different
5. Do you enjoy building snowmen or having snowball fights?
Believe it or not. I’ve actually never done either of those things before.
6. What holiday activity do you look forward to the most each year?
Does buying presents count? I LOVE looking for items that the person I’m shopping for has mentioned they liked during the year. Seeing the look on their face when they open their gifts on Christmas and it’s exactly what they’ve always wanted brings so much joy to my heart.
7. How do you like to decorate your Christmas tree?
Right now I have 2 Christmas trees in my room. A little one near my bed and that’s decorated in purple. And the other one is one of those pink trees from five below and that’s decorated with white snow flakes and blackpink photocards and the star is a picture of all them together. Both these trees have colorful lights.
8. What's your favorite Christmas carol or holiday song?
My favorite one is it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas by Perry Como & The Fontane Sisters.
9. Have you ever gone caroling or participated in a holiday performance?
Only when I was a child and we had to sing for our parents.
10. What's a winter activity you haven't tried yet but would love to do?
Building a snowman. I’ve said this in a previous post before. I’d love to try to build a snowman. I’ve seen people do it in movies and it looks fun.
