Halloween can be fun time for everyone, but it's important to take some safety precautions. Here's a couple of tips to help you stay safe this Halloween.
Tip #1
Wear comfortable shoes.
If you plan on walking a lot when you go trick or treating wear comfortable shoes so your feet won't feel sore.
Tip #2
Walk with groups
Never go trick or treating by yourself. Always walk with a group. This way you will stay safe & avoid something happening to you if you walk by yourself.
Tip #3
Make sure costumes are not a tripping hazard.
If your costume or your child's costume is too long make sure you fix it to the appropriate length so it doesn't become a tripping hazard when you walk around.
Tip #4
Make sure you're able to be seen
Since most of the trick or treating is done at night; make sure you are able to be seen by drivers. Use reflective tape on your costume or buy a light up button you can attach to yourself. If you're walking with your dog make sure they also have something that can alert drivers of their presence. They sell light up dog collars on Amazon & Ebay; they're inexpensive as well.
Tip #5
Check your candy
I know, I know... when you get home you just want to eat up all your candy. I get it! But unfortunately sometimes sick, twisted, crazy people tend to take advantage of it being Halloween to cause harm. There has been many stories of people putting razor blades in candy or children finding strange things in their candy. Check for open packages, candy that's not in its original packaging, holes. It's better to be safe than sorry.
