Just in case you don't know what Clairol is:

Clairol is a personal care-product division of company Coty, specializing in hair coloring and hair care, that was begun in 1931 by Americans Joan Gelb and her husband Lawrence M. Gelb, along with business partner and lifelong friend James Romeo, after discovering hair-coloring preparations while traveling in France. (Source)

Ok, so here's what the box that they sent me looked like...

As you can see from the label on the box this root touch up that they sent me is one of their new products. Fun. Ok, so lets open the box now shall we????

*angelic music* ahhhhhh ahhhhhh

When we open up the product box we find the tube of root touch up... some gloves... and the instructions.

*not pictured are the gloves. Because they're just your standard plastic gloves you use when you dye your hair*

Here's a couple of close ups from the box just in case you guys want to read what the box says.

ok, so here comes the part you've all been waiting for... the review.

Review:

I always like to start off with the positive things first so here's what I loved about this product. What I loved was how easy it was to apply onto the hair. This root touch up comes with a brush attached which I thought was a great idea.

Here's the brush image.

Ok, so here's more stuff that I thought was worth mentioning. Since it comes with a brush there is zero mess involved because you get to choose how much product you dispense at a time. To get the product out you just squeeze the tube a little and out it comes from the brush.

Also, when you squeeze the bottle and apply the gel that comes out to your hair; the gel literally stays in the exact place you put it. It doesn't drip. Lastly, you know when you dye your hair and you have that itching/burning sensation in your scalp? They said they couldn't feel that. So that's a positive thing too :)

Since, I don't have many gray hairs that would benefit from this root touch up, I decided to let two people from my house try it out for me and report back with the results.

And here are the results of what happened:

Unfortunately this did not work for either one of them. Person A left it on for the recommended 10 minutes and Person B left it on for longer and it did not cover any of their gray hairs.

(this is where I'd show a before & after but first of all I didn't ask for consent that I put their pictures online & secondly the product didn't even tint their gray hair so why bother showing 4 pictures of someone's gray hairs if it looked the same as if they didn't apply the root touch up)

Final Thoughts:

I'm not going to lie here, but I wouldn't buy this in the future. Don't let that discurage you from trying it if you want (some people have said that it did work for them so maybe it can work for you too because ya know everyone's hair is different), if you're looking to buy this to try it out on your own behalf to see if it works for you, I saw this at Target for I believe $10. But me personally I wouldn't recommend this. What I do recommend if you're looking for a root touch up is the Nice'n Easy Root Touch Up Powder from Clairol. One of the persons who tried the root touch up gel tried the powder touch up and they said they really loved it.
